An example is given to illustrate the model and to demonstrate its stepwise development from specification. A strength of the approach presented is the wide range of real-time systems which can be specified in the model. 1 Introduction The problem of specifying real-time distributed systems has occupied computer scientists in recent times. This is partly because real-time systems, particularly in the area of defence, are more often safety-critical than systems without the concept of time. Real-time systems often need to react to an environment which may not always be controllable. In such cases, validation by testing may be particularly unreliable, and there is g..
