Multiuser Detection and Channel Estimation for Multibeam Satellite Communications
In this paper, iterative multi-user detection techniques for multi-beam
communications are presented. The solutions are based on a successive
interference cancellation architecture and a channel decoding to treat the
co-channel interference. Beams forming and channels coefficients are estimated
and updated iteratively. A developed technique of signals combining allows
power improvement of the useful received signal; and then reduction of the bit
error rates with low signal to noise ratios. The approach is applied to a
synchronous multi-beam satellite link under an additive white Gaussian channel.
Evaluation of the techniques is done with computer simulations, where a noised
and multi-access environment is considered. The simulations results show the
good performance of the proposed solutions.Comment: 12 page
Receiver Multiuser Diversity Aided Multi-Stage MMSE Multiuser Detection for DS-CDMA and SDMA Systems Employing I-Q Modulation
The so-called receiver multiuser diversity aided multistage minimum mean-square error multiuser detector (RMD/MS-MMSE MUD), which was proposed previously by the author, is investigated in the context of the direct-sequence code-division multiple-access (DS- CDMA) and space-division multiple-access (SDMA) systems that employ in- and quadrature-phase (I-Q) modulation schemes. A detection scheme is studied, which is operated in real domain in the principles of successive interference cancellation (SIC). The concept of noise recognition factor (NRF) is proposed for explaining the efficiency of SIC-type detectors and also for motivating to design other high-efficiency detectors. The achievable bit error rate (BER) performance of the RMD/MS-MMSE MUD is investigated for DS-CDMA and SDMA systems of either full-load or overload, when communicating over Rayleigh fading channels for the SDMA and over either additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) or Rayleigh fading channels for the DS-CDMA. The studies and performance results show that the RMD/MS-MMSE MUD is a highly promising MUD. It has low implementation complexity and good error performance. Furthermore, it is a high-flexibility detector suitable for various communication systems operated in different communication environments
M-ary Coded Mouldation Assisted Genetic Algorithm Based Multiuser Detection for CDMA Systems
In this contribution we propose a novel M-ary Coded Modulation assisted Genetic Algorithm based Multiuser Detection (CM-GA-MUD) scheme for synchronous CDMA systems. The performance of the proposed scheme was investigated using Quadrature-Phase-Shift-Keying (QPSK), 8-level PSK (8PSK) and 16-level Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (16QAM) when communicating over AWGN and narrowband Rayleigh fading channels. When compared with the optimum MUD scheme, the GAMUD subsystem is capable of reducing the computational complexity significantly. On the other hand, the CM subsystem is capable of obtaining considerable coding gains despite being fed with sub-optimal information provided by the GA-MUD output
