Blind adaptive constrained reduced-rank parameter estimation based on constant modulus design for CDMA interference suppression
This paper proposes a multistage decomposition for blind adaptive parameter estimation in the Krylov subspace with the code-constrained constant modulus (CCM) design criterion. Based on constrained optimization of the constant modulus cost function and utilizing the Lanczos algorithm and Arnoldi-like iterations, a multistage decomposition is developed for blind parameter estimation. A family of computationally efficient blind adaptive reduced-rank stochastic gradient (SG) and recursive least squares (RLS) type algorithms along with an automatic rank selection procedure are also devised and evaluated against existing methods. An analysis of the convergence properties of the method is carried out and convergence conditions for the reduced-rank adaptive algorithms are established. Simulation results consider the application of the proposed techniques to the suppression of multiaccess and intersymbol interference in DS-CDMA systems
Low Complexity Blind Equalization for OFDM Systems with General Constellations
This paper proposes a low-complexity algorithm for blind equalization of data
in OFDM-based wireless systems with general constellations. The proposed
algorithm is able to recover data even when the channel changes on a
symbol-by-symbol basis, making it suitable for fast fading channels. The
proposed algorithm does not require any statistical information of the channel
and thus does not suffer from latency normally associated with blind methods.
We also demonstrate how to reduce the complexity of the algorithm, which
becomes especially low at high SNR. Specifically, we show that in the high SNR
regime, the number of operations is of the order O(LN), where L is the cyclic
prefix length and N is the total number of subcarriers. Simulation results
confirm the favorable performance of our algorithm
SGD Frequency-Domain Space-Frequency Semiblind Multiuser Receiver with an Adaptive Optimal Mixing Parameter
A novel stochastic gradient descent frequency-domain (FD) space-frequency (SF) semiblind multiuser receiver with an adaptive optimal mixing parameter is proposed to improve performance of FD semiblind multiuser receivers with a fixed mixing parameters and reduces computational complexity of suboptimal FD semiblind multiuser receivers in SFBC downlink MIMO MC-CDMA systems where various numbers of users exist. The receiver exploits an adaptive mixing parameter to mix information ratio between the training-based mode and the blind-based mode. Analytical results prove that the optimal mixing parameter value relies on power and number of active loaded users existing in the system. Computer simulation results show that when the mixing parameter is adapted closely to the optimal mixing parameter value, the performance of the receiver outperforms existing FD SF adaptive step-size (AS) LMS semiblind based with a fixed mixing parameter and conventional FD SF AS-LMS training-based multiuser receivers in the MSE, SER and signal to interference plus noise ratio in both static and dynamic environments
Subspace-Based Blind Channel Identification for Cyclic Prefix Systems Using Few Received Blocks
In this paper, a novel generalization of subspace-based blind channel identification methods in cyclic prefix (CP) systems is proposed. For the generalization, a new system parameter called repetition index is introduced whose value is unity for previously reported special cases. By choosing a repetition index larger than unity, the number of received blocks needed for blind identification is significantly reduced compared to all previously reported methods. This feature makes the method more realistic especially in wireless environments where the channel state is usually fast-varying. Given the number of received blocks available, the minimum value of repetition index is derived. Theoretical limit allows the proposed method to perform blind identification using only three received blocks in absence of noise. In practice, the number of received blocks needed to yield a satisfactory bit-error-rate (BER) performance is usually on the order of half the block size. Simulation results not only demonstrate the capability of the algorithm to perform blind identification using fewer received blocks, but also show that in some cases system performance can be improved by choosing a repetition index larger than needed. Simulation of the proposed method over time-varying channels clearly demonstrates the improvement over previously reported methods

Robust Reduced-Rank Adaptive Processing Based on Parallel Subgradient Projection and Krylov Subspace Techniques
In this paper, we propose a novel reduced-rank adaptive filtering algorithm
by blending the idea of the Krylov subspace methods with the set-theoretic
adaptive filtering framework. Unlike the existing Krylov-subspace-based
reduced-rank methods, the proposed algorithm tracks the optimal point in the
sense of minimizing the \sinq{true} mean square error (MSE) in the Krylov
subspace, even when the estimated statistics become erroneous (e.g., due to
sudden changes of environments). Therefore, compared with those existing
methods, the proposed algorithm is more suited to adaptive filtering
applications. The algorithm is analyzed based on a modified version of the
adaptive projected subgradient method (APSM). Numerical examples demonstrate
that the proposed algorithm enjoys better tracking performance than the
existing methods for the interference suppression problem in code-division
multiple-access (CDMA) systems as well as for simple system identification
problems.Comment: 10 figures. In IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 201
