Abstract

Among the pages of a protocol, we found a piece of paper used to write down some documents that needed to be copied. This piece of paper, which at first glance seems unimportant, is actually an early example of advertising in 19th-century Spain. Specifically, it is a sheet that was distributed to households to inform them about the sale of various items intended for women. Under the title: ‘Unrivalled bargains on the latest embroidery,’ a series of products are listed with their prices, ranging from ladies' combs to sewing needles, ladies' ties, embroidered strips, and bibs and smocks for children
