Abstract

ABSTRACT NURSING CARE FOR MENTAL PATIENTS WITH SCHIZOPHRENIA WITH SOCIAL ISOLATION NURSING PROBLEMS (Case Study at Dr. Arif Zainudin Surakarta Mental Hospital) By: Ariesa Soerya NIM: 2613575 Schizophrenia is a clinical syndrome of psychological disorders that affects an individual's thought patterns, perceptions, emotions, and behavior. This disorder is characterized by psychotic reactions that impact thinking, communication, and interpretation of reality, as well as deviant and maladaptive behavior. One impact of schizophrenia is social isolation, a condition in which a person experiences a decreased ability to interact socially due to feelings of being unaccepted, rejected, lonely, and unable to form meaningful relationships with others. Mr. S experienced social isolation, as evidenced by his tendency to be alone, feeling different, and experiencing ostracism within his family. Mental health nursing care was provided for four days in the Nakula Ward of Dr. Arif Zainudin Surakarta Mental Hospital using a case study approach and the nursing process. The assessment results showed symptoms such as withdrawal, flat affect, daydreaming, and refusal of interaction. Interventions included SP 1, which identified the causes of social isolation, SP 2, which encouraged interaction with one person, despite obstacles due to the client's lack of cooperation, and SP 3, which motivated the client to engage in new activities and groups, gradually improving the client's social skills. Mental nursing care for schizophrenia patients with social isolation nursing problems requires good interaction. Keywords: Schizophrenia, Social Isolation, Nursing Care
