G20 Chief Science Advisers' Roundtable Outcome Statement: CSAR 2025

Abstract

This outcome statement of the G20 Chief Science Advisers’ Roundtable was prepared under the leadership of the National Advisory Council on Innovation (NACI) to provide scientific advice to the G20 Summit of Heads of State and Governments in South Africa in 2025. Science, technology and innovation play a central role in economic growth, social progress and sustainable development. This topic is the focus of the outcome statement of the G20 Chief Science Advisors' Roundtable (G20 CSAR), which will inform the G20 Summit on 22 and 23 November 2025 in Johannesburg, South Africa. The G20 CSAR was established in 2023 as a consultation process of the chief scientific advisors of the G20 countries to prepare advice to the annual G20 summits. In coordination with the German government, Prof. Dr Bettina Rockenbach, President of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, represents Germany at the G20 CSAR ad personam
