Lampião da esquina e a representação de lutas das "maiorias marginalizadas"

Abstract

The following article explores how Lampião da Esquina, a newspaper part of the alternative press that circulated during the military dictatorship, contributed to the formation of a homosexual identity in Brazil and, beyond this aspect, represented the struggles of other groups oppressed by the current regime, thus breaking with what was established and conventional in Brazilian society at the time. By focusing on women, blacks and homosexuals, the article shows how Lampião da Esquina brought together and promoted the struggles of socially marginalized groups through the creation of new entities, acts and public protests, and how these actions contributed to the construction of the memory of the social movements that emerged during the period of democratic transition in Brazil.Este artigo analisa como o jornal Lampião da Esquina, parte da imprensa alternativa que circulou durante a ditadura militar brasileira, contribuiu para a formação de uma identidade homossexual no Brasil e, para além desse aspecto, como representou e mobilizou lutas de outros grupos oprimidos pelo regime vigente. Ao focar em pessoas negras e homossexuais, o artigo mostra como o periódico reuniu e impulsionou lutas de grupos marginalizados socialmente através da criação de novas entidades, atos e protestos públicos, e como essas ações contribuíram para a construção dos movimentos sociais que emergiram no período de transição democrática no Brasil
