Traumatic injuries and their relationship with overbite in children aged 6 to 12 at the Juana Alarco de Dammert Public School in Miraflores in 2023

Abstract

El estudio tiene como objetivo: determinar las lesiones traumáticas en dientes anteriores y su relación con sobremordida horizontal en niños de 6 a 12 años de edad del Colegio Público Juana Alarco de Dammert de Miraflores en el año 2023. Metodología: no experimental, cuantitativo, transversal y correlacional. Resultados: se encontró relación entre lesiones traumáticas dentales y sobremordida horizontal, presentando el 0.3% de niños investigados, una sobremordida horizontal y lesiones traumáticas dentales en dientes anteriores , el 15% de niños con una sobremordida horizontal solamente y el 84.7% de niños presento una sobremordida horizontal sin lesiones traumáticas en dientes anteriores, se encontró que el grupo más afectado según la edad, con 0.3%, son niños de 10 años con lesiones traumáticas dentales en dientes anteriores. Por último, el 0.3% presentaron lesiones traumáticas dentales en la pieza 1.1 de los dientes anteriores. Concluyendo que existe relación entre las variables lesiones traumáticas en dientes anteriores y sobremordida horizontal, con un p-valor de ,018 menor que 0.05 por lo tanto se acepta la hipótesis de estudio.The study aims to determine traumatic injuries in anterior teeth and their relationship with overjet in children aged 6 to 12 from Juana Alarco de Dammert Public School in Miraflores in 2023. Methodology: non-experimental, quantitative, cross sectional, and correlational. Results: A relationship was found between dental traumatic injuries and overjet. Specifically, 0.3% of children presented both overjet and traumatic injuries in anterior teeth, 15% had overjet only, and 84.7% showed overjet without traumatic injuries in anterior teeth. The most affected age group, with 0.3%, was 10-year old children with traumatic injuries in anterior teeth. Furthermore, 0.3% presented traumatic injuries in tooth 1.1 of the anterior teeth. The study concludes that there is a relationship between traumatic injuries in anterior teeth and overjet, with a p-value of 0.018, which is less than 0.05, thus supporting the study’s hypothesis.Innovación en salud integral y gestión sanitaria
