Hvordan brukes lys og mørke til å forme tilskuerens opplevelse av frykt og spenning i skrekkfilm?

Abstract

Denne bacheloroppgaven undersøker hvordan lys og mørke brukes til å forme tilskuerens opplevelse av frykt og spenning i skrekkfilm. Sammen med dette blir også lydens påvirkning på filmene tatt med i sammenheng med lys og mørke. Gjennom en audiovisuell analyse av utvalgte scener fra filmene Midsommar (Aster, 2019) og Lights Out (Sandberg, 2016) vil jeg se nærmere på tilskuerens opplevelse av frykt og spenning i disse filmene, og hvordan lys, mørke og lyden eventuelt er med på å forsterke disse følelsene. Denne undersøkelsen benytter seg også av litteratur fra bla. Carl Plantinga, Greg M. Smith, Mathias Clasen og Michel Chion for å bygge under de teoretiske begrepene innen lys og lyd, og som kommer godt med i utførelsen av selve undersøkelsen.This bachelor´s thesis examines how light and darkness is used to shape the viewer´s experience of fear and suspense in horror films. Along with this, the influence of sound in the films is also included in the context of light and darkness. Through an audiovisual analysis of selectec scenes from the films Midsommar (Aster, 2019) and Lights Out (Sandberg, 2016), I will take a closer look at the viewer´s experience of fear and suspence in these films, and how light, darkness and sound may help to reinforce these feeling. This research also uses literature from, among others, Carl Plantinga, Greg M. Smith, Mathias Clasen and Michel Chion to build on the theoretical concepts within light and sound, which will come in handy in carrying out the research itself
