The influence of colors and layout elements on the cognitive perception of visual informations

Abstract

Način oblikovanja i raspored elemenata u korisničkom sučelju utječu na kognitivnu percepciju vizualnih informacija. Boja, kontrast, tipografija i raspored sadržaja imaju ključnu ulogu u usmjeravanju pažnje korisnika i percepciji informacija. The way elements are designed and arranged within a user interface affects the cognitive perception of visual information. Color, contrast, typography, and content layout play a key role in guiding the user’s attention and shaping how information is perceived. User interfaces are designed to facilitate easier interaction with computer systems through simplicity and intuitiveness. On the other hand, user experience encompasses the overall impression and emotional response of the user while interacting with a product. The theoretical part of this paper explains the difference between user interface and user experience, as well as the role of color, typography, and composition in attracting attention. Psychological aspects of visual direction and the basic principles of how the human eye perceives information are also addressed. The practical part of the paper includes a study conducted with 80 participants. The participants were instructed to read a text without being informed that they would later be asked questions related to visual elements such as colors, shapes, and the positioning of elements. The goal was to examine how visual design influences cognitive perception. The collected results were analyzed and presented graphically, followed by a summary combining the findings from all participant groups
