Synthesis and characterization of bis(β-diketonato)dichloridotin(IV) complexes

Abstract

Several tin(IV) complexes bearing two chlorides and two β-diketonate ligands have been successfully synthesized. These complexes were easily afforded by the open-air oxidation of SnCl2 in either a solution of the β-diketone or in the neat liquid ligand itself. All complexes were characterized by mass spectrometry, and NMR and IR spectroscopies. In some cases, single crystals were isolated and analyzed by X-ray diffraction.
