El derecho al deporte: perspectiva de género

Abstract

Este capítulo analiza la desigualdad de género en el ámbito deportivo, destacando cómo el deporte ha sido históricamente un espacio de dominación masculina, en el que las mujeres han enfrentado obstáculos estructurales y culturales. Para ello se examina la evolución de la participación femenina en el deporte desde la Antigüedad hasta la actualidad, evidenciando la persistencia de estereotipos de género y la segregación en competiciones, a la vez que se analiza el marco jurídico del derecho al deporte desde una perspectiva constitucional y de igualdad, incluyendo legislación estatal y autonómica, con un enfoque aplicativo específico al caso de Extremadura. Se concluye identificando los factores que dificultan la igualdad en el acceso al deporte en el entorno rural y formulando estrategias para su superación en el marco de la igualdad de género.This chapter analyzes gender inequality in sports, highlighting how sports have historically been a space of male domination, where women have faced structural and cultural barriers. To this end, it examines the evolution of female participation in sports from Antiquity to the present, revealing the persistence of gender stereotypes and segregation in competitions. Additionally, it analyzes the legal framework of the right to sports from a constitutional and equality perspective, including national and regional legislation, with a specific applied focus on the case of Extremadura. The chapter concludes by identifying the factors that hinder gender equality in access to sports in rural areas and proposing strategies to overcome these barriers within the framework of gender equality.peerReviewe
