Research on optimizing the harvesting work environment for chili pepper farmers through agriculture and social welfare collaboration

Abstract

This study examines the working environment of chili pepper harvesters on farms practicing universal agriculture and identifies key management challenge faced by the farms. Six individuals participated in the study, and two surveys were conducted. First, video recordings of subjects’ facial expressions were obtained and analyzed using emotion recognition software to assess emotional responses. Low average values for negative emotions, such as anger, indicated an absence of significant issues in the work processes, suggesting that the working environment is being managed appropriately for all workers, including those with disabilities. Next, semi-structured interviews were conducted post-harvest. MAXQDA was used to analyze the text data obtained. This analysis revealed challenges in locating, identifying, and picking chili peppers. In the future, the introduction of technology to these types of tasks is expected to improve production efficiency and reduce manual workload.2departmental bulletin pape
