University of Minnesota, Institute on Community Integration
Abstract
The Institute's monthly staff newsletter features news of recent activities, accomplishments, and resources. This month's first feature story is about a new data portal developed at ICI that addresses the dire shortage of direct care workers who support people with disabilities in their daily lives. The second feature story is about the University of Minnesota President, ICI researchers, and others calling on statewide health and education leaders to address critical service gaps in the mental and behavioral health of children and youth. The third story is about ICI urging the U.S. Department of Labor to phase out certificates that allow workers with disabilities to be paid less than the federal minimum wage. This month's Update is about occupational therapist Alyssa Mason (MNLEND 2020-21), who explains that infant trauma victims may need help with sensory processing strategies in addition to mental health support.Institute on Community Integration.
