Abstract

This work aims at presenting the early stages of Christianity in Ireland, as well as the beginnings, growth and expansion of the Irish monastic movement. Some ancient Celtic beliefs, elements of local culture and their influence on the process of the further merging of both cultures are also considered.Artykuł ten ma na celu opisanie wczesnych etapów chrześcijaństwa w Irlandii, jak również początków, rozwoju i ekspansji irlandzkiego ruchu monastycznego. W artykule uwzględniono także niektóre staroceltyckie wierzenia i elementy miejscowej kultury oraz ich wpływ na proces dalszego scalania się obu kultur
