Adam Naming the Animals, Plate 1 from History of the First Parents of Man : Preservation Lab Treatment Report

Abstract

This item is a new acquisition of the DAAP teaching collection. The items in this collection are meant to be handled and used for teaching and exhibition. This is small engraving by Jan Pietersz Saenredam, a Dutch engraver and draftsman, 1565-1607. The engraving shows Adam taming the Animals, from the Story of Adam and Eve, a set of six engravings. The primary support is a light thin beige laid paper. There are two graphite handwritten inscriptions on the verso of the engraving. Additionally, on the verso adhered to the top edge there are two hinges that appear to be made of Kozo fibers.View Item in DAAP Library Collection: https://www.jstor.org/stable/community.3502441
