Hansel and Gretel: and Other Stories by the Brothers Grimm : Preservation Lab Treatment Report

Abstract

This is a volume of Hansel and Gretel and Other Stories by the Brothers Grimm, featuring twenty‐two illustrations by Kay Nielsen. Twelve of the illustrations are tipped‐in color illustrations, while the remaining are printed in black ink. The binding is a red publisher’s binding featuring gold gilt decoration on the spine and a printed illustration affixed to the upper cover. The book has red and white stuck‐on endbands and red and white decorative pastedowns and flyleaves featuring floral motifs. The text block consists of good quality beige paper and the gatherings are sewn through the fold. The book came to the Preservation Lab with a clear plastic dust jacket cover wrapped around it – this will be discarded, but the labels attached to it will be retained in the box.View Catalog Record: https://cincinnatilibrary.bibliocommons.com/v2/record/S170C109652
