Geodata to GEOFAST - sheet 118 Innsbruck (1:50,000)

Abstract

Die einzelnen GEOFAST-Datensätze sind Teil einer Serie (GEOFAST-Geodaten) und werden als Geopackage (-gpkg) zur Verfügung gestellt. Neben den planaren Ebenen (z.B. für Gesteine und flächenhafte Strukturprägung) enthält dieser Datensatz auch Polygon-, Punkt- und Linien-Ebenen zu verschiedenen geologischen Themen wie Quartärgeologie, Geomorphologie, Struktur, Tektonik, etc. Die publizierten Geodaten sind von digitalen Kompilationen für GEOFAST-Karten abgeleitet. Als Datengrundlage für diese Karten dienen vorhandene und für diesen Zweck eigens beschaffte Archivunterlagen und Manuskriptkarten der Geologischen Bundesanstalt, als auch publizierte Karten (meist älteren Datums), die von Fachexperten sorgfältig evaluiert und zusammengeführt wurden. Die für die Kompilation verwendeten Unterlagen sind in den Datensätzen vermerkt und liegen fast zur Gänze in der Bibliothek bzw. im wissenschaftlichen Archiv der GBA vor.The individual GEOFAST data sets are part of a series (GEOFAST-Geodaten) and are made available as Geopackage (-gpkg). Beyond the planar layers (for example for rock formations and planar structural overprints), this data set also includes polygon, point and line layers for various geological topics such as Quaternary geology, geomorphology, structure, tectonics, etc. The published geodata are derived from digital compilations for GEOFAST maps. The data basis for these maps stems from the archives of the Geological Survey of Austria (GBA). It also includes material and manuscript maps from elsewhere that were incorporated into the GBA archives as well as published data, mostly older maps. All were (and continue to be) specifically selected for this purpose, carefully evaluated and collated by experts. The materials used for the compilation are noted in the datasets, and almost all are available in the library or in the scientific archives of the GBA.Diese Geodaten sind Teil einer Serie, die im Zuge des Projektes GEOFAST durch Zusammenstellung ausgewählter Archivunterlagen und Manuskriptkarten der Geologischen Bundesanstalt sowie publizierter Karten (meist älteren Datums), im Maßstab 1:50.000, gefertigt wurden. Das Akronym GEOFAST steht für „Erstellung einer flächendeckenden digitalen GEOlogischen Spezialkarte Österreichs auF Aktuellem ForschungsSTand 1:50.000“. Der Begriff „Aktueller Forschungsstand“ bezieht sich dabei auf die aktuell verfügbaren Kartenunterlagen in den Archiven der GBA, nicht auf neu erzielte Forschungsergebnisse oder regelmäßige Aktualisierungen des Datenbestands. Hierfür werden die Archivbestände sowie die Bibliothek der Geologischen Bundesanstalt für das jeweilige Kartenblatt durchforstet. Das Projektteam nimmt dann unter Einbezug der jeweiligen Regionalexpertinnen/-en der GBA eine wissenschaftlich fundierte Auswahl der Karteninhalte vor, die in der Folge zu einer Karte kompiliert, digitalisiert und auf die jeweils aktuelle topografische Grundlage angepasst wird. Dabei werden unterstützend auch aus Laserscan-Befliegungsdaten abgeleitete, hoch aufgelöste, digitale Geländemodelle verwendet.Diskontinuitäten zwischen den verwendeten Kartenunterlagen verschiedener Autoren werden bewusst beibehalten und können sich als Sprünge in den Konturlinien äußern. Geologische Inhalte werden in die aktuellen stratigrafischen und tektonischen Modelle überführt. Aufgrund der Übertragung der geologischen Inhalte von Karten mit veralteter Topografie und größeren Maßstäben in die zum Zeitpunkt der Bearbeitung aktuelle topografische Grundlage sind Lageungenauigkeiten vorhanden. Es werden all jene Kartenblätter (bezogen auf den BMN-Blattschnitt) bearbeitet, die in absehbarer Zeit nicht einer feldgeologischen Neubearbeitung unterzogen werden können. Die GEOFAST Kompilationen sind eine Ergänzung aber keinesfalls ein Ersatz für die im Gelände neu aufgenommenen und wissenschaftlich bearbeiteten Karten des Kartierungsprogramms GK 50-BMN / GK 25-UTM.These geodata are part of a series that was produced in the framework of the project GEOFAST by compiling selected archive materials and manuscript maps of the Geological Survey (GBA) along with published (mostly older) maps on a scale of 1:50,000. The acronym GEOFAST stands for “Erstellung einer flächendeckenden digitalen GEOlogischen Spezialkarte Österreichs auF Aktuellem ForschungsSTand 1:50.000” (translation: “Production of a comprehensive, special digital geological map of Austria at a scale of 1:50,000 based on the current state of research”). The term “current state of research” refers to the maps currently available in the GBA archives, not on new research results or on regular updates of the available databases. For this purpose, materials for the relevant map sheets were sought in the archives as well as in the library of the Geological Survey. The project team, in collaboration with the respective regional experts at the GBA, then undertake a scientifically based selection of the map contents. These are then compiled into a map, digitalized, and adapted to the most current topographic representations. This process is supported by high-resolution digital terrain models derived from airborne laserscan surveys.Discontinuities between the maps of various authors are deliberately retained and are visible as steps in the contour lines. The geological data are transferred into state-of-the-art stratigraphic and tectonic models. Positional inaccuracies reflect the transferal of geological data from maps with an outdated topography and larger scales onto the more recent topographic material. The process encompasses all those map sheets (pertaining to the BMN sheet line system) for which no update based on field-geological surveys is expected in the foreseeable future. The GEOFAST compilations are envisioned as a supplement, not as a replacement for maps newly produced based on field surveys and scientifically revised in the framework of the mapping program GK 50-BMN / GK 25-UTM
