Gloss-ViBe

Abstract

Das Projekt erforscht die frühmittelalterliche, keltische Glossentradition zu Beda Venerabilis „De Temporum Ratione“ und liefert die erste digitale Edition des sogenannten Wiener Bedas: Wien, Österreichische Nationalbibliothek, Codex 15298 (Olim Suppl. 2698). Diese Handschrift überliefert zusätzlich zum Haupttext lateinische und altirische Glossen. Zusammen mit Parallelglossen von drei weiteren Handschriften werden diese Glossen mit Methoden der digitalen Geisteswissenschaften, Philologie und Linguistik analysiert.The project studies the early medieval Celtic glossing tradition on the Venerable Bede's "De Temporum Ratione" and offers the first digital edition of the so-called Vienna Bede: Vienna, Österreichische Nationalbibliothek, Codex 15298 (Olim Suppl. 2698). In addition to the principal text, this manuscript transmits glosses in Latin and Old Irish. Together with parallel glosses found in three other manuscripts these glosses are analysed using methodologies from digital humanities, philology, and linguistics
