Oral History with Nancy Escobar, Army (2009-2017). Raised in California to Mexican American parents. As a first-generation American citizen, and second oldest of six, Escobar had big ambitions. Her time in the Army taught her valuable lessons and skills. Her first deployment was in 2011 to Afghanistan. Escobar left the military in 2017 to take care of her children.
