Characterization of activated carbon was studied extensively. Proximate Analysis, SEM, BET, Porosity, pH, Iodine No, solubility were some of the characterization techniques which was applied minutely on activated carbon prepared from coconut shell in order to predict its Surface area, Porosity, Surface Topography, pH , etc . Activated Carbon are extensively used in the abatement of hazardous contaminants, treatment of municipal & industrial waste water, as catalyst or catalyst support in medicine, & the recovery of valuable metals because it is specially treated to create a highly developed internal pore structure & thus this pore structure is responsible for the superior performance of activated carbons. My work focused on removal of methylene blue dye using commercial activated carbon. Using activated carbon the removal of methylene blue dye was studied by changing different parameters such as initial pH, initial adsorbent dosage, initial dye concentration & contact time. Finally the experimental data were fitted into both Langmuir & Freundlich isotherms. Thus the given activated carbon prepared from coconut shell could be used extensively in removal of methylene blue dye from waste water
