Description of the Explosion of the Steamboat Moselle

Abstract

The Moselle had a reputation for speed. On April 25, 1838 she took on 280-300 passengers, an unusually large number, bound for St. Louis. When the boat was shoved away from the shore at Fulton, a suburb of Cincinnati, all four boilers exploded.
