地圖為溝通:社會地景視覺化與社區地圖協作

Abstract

[[abstract]]『地圖為溝通』是⼀個應⽤地圖養成的社會性實驗,審視以回應地圖教育在空間資訊科技發展下的定位,並建立地圖專業 在落實教學服務與⼤學社會責任的學科價值。本計劃透過專案導向的學習⽅式,在地圖專業知識的基礎之上,引導修課學 ⽣建立市⺠是感知器(citizen as sensor)的社會感知調查,適地性服務概念,以及公⺠科學在開放資料嫁接與資訊再呈現 的各種可能。 研究成果可分為技術實作及理論反饋兩部分,在技術實作⽅⾯,本研究在課程中建立了地圖鏈接個⼈感知 的操作⽅法,建立社會議題導向的共享評價資料庫,在理論反饋⽅⾯,本課程則檢視並確立地圖學的當代意義,地圖學訓 練不該僅以訓練『製圖者 (map maker)』為⽬標,反⽽該納入『⽤圖者 (map user)』的思維,創造知識⽣產與應⽤的鏈 結,以強化地圖在建立溝通訊息流的能⼒。翻轉地圖過去服膺權威者的想像,利⽤地理資訊系統與資通訊科技技術,建立 以社會地景為專題的地圖協作,是地圖教育須持續深耕努⼒的⽅向。[[abstract]]"Cartomunicate" is a social experience for applied cartography. We consider cartography as a profession of spatial information technologies. Based on this, we explore the way in which cartographical education can be addressed in responding to promoting the linkages between universities and the society. The study applies the project-based learning methods. With the core of knowledge professions of cartography, we lead the students (1) to explore what the social value of the society can be evaluated, (2) to define the way of engaging cartography, as a powerful tool of visualisation, in transforming social value in maps. The empirical study contributes to at least two aspects. From the practical side, the study engages the cartography course in the fields of citizen sciences, and use the ICT technologies for data visualisation. From the conceptual perspectives, the study reflects the newer role of cartographical training. The periodic need of cartographical education is rather training map "makers" but "users." Cartomunicate aims to engage spatial information techniques for communication and community-based collaboration.
