Ethical Dilemmas of Automated Vehicles

Abstract

With Autonomous vehicles on the horizon, many questions are raised involving the safety and ethics used in their operation. This paper focuses into the various different circumstances that could occur and the views various ethical schools would have upon the decisions to be made when programming the vehicles. Though, as will be shown, applying ethics to autonomous vehicles becomes problematic when the ethics themselves are challenging to get a clearly determined result.
