Les impacts sociaux de la rénovation urbaine à Bruxelles: analyse des migrations intra-urbaines

Abstract

The analysis of intra-urban migration in Brussels at the beginning of the 1990s brings to the fore different processes of population replacement among the whole range of migration flows taking place within the city. I argue that these processes are closely related to different types of urban renewal. In some cases, urban renewal and increasing spatial concentration of the urban poor in already most decayed and impoverished central neighbourhoods seems to go hand in hand. Processes of urban renewal reinforce in that way the socio-spatial polarisation of the city and, therefore, run counter to a model of socially sustainable urban development.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishe
