Impact of discretization and boundary conditions in nonlinear frequency-division multiplexing

Abstract

A transmission scheme based on the modulation of information onto the nonlinear spectrum of a signal is analysed through simulation and the impact of discretization choices, boundary conditions and block length is investigated. It turns out that the spectral efficiency decrease due to the redundant symbols required to fulfil the requirements about boundary conditions cannot be mitigated by increasing the block length
