Abstract

Hereby, MMU will ensure it will continue to adhere to meet, or exceed minimum standards of quality. Accreditation is imperative because in an institution of higher learning's point of view, it is a key factor for students to determine acceptable institutions to trust and prefer. Importantly as well, accreditation assists institutions in determining acceptability of transfer credits. Agility in assuring MMU's adherence to academic compliance and regulatory, advantageously, shows signs that MMU has come of age, parallel with most education service's essential requirements. On 20 March 2017, MMU together with seven other higher learning institutions have been awarded the self-accreditation status by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). Quoating Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh, as stated in the Star Online, the Higher Education Minister said, "Self-accreditation status entitled the respective university's senate to accredit its programme based ib the standards set by MQA. This autonomy is granted to universities that have obtained the level of quality that ca be certified by the MQA" he said after handing the certificate to the universities. Also, according to New Straits Time Online, the self-accreditation status gives more power to top-performing universities in this country to do their own self-assessment. they have more autonomy in running their own academic programmes. Congratulations MMU
