The Extreme Precipitation Change Characteristics of the Source Area of the Middle Route of South-North Water Transfer Project

Abstract

AbstractExtreme precipitation indices were defined and analyzed in order to estimate the impacts of global climate change on the water source area of the middle route of South-North Water Transfer Project. Researches on the extreme precipitation and the intensity of extreme precipitation events show a general increasing trend while no obvious trend found in the frequency of extreme precipitation events. The Mann-Kendall test results indicate all of the three indices’ time series suffered an abrupt change in the late 20th century and after that, the extreme precipitation becomes more frequent with a larger intensity
