Chechnya and regional order: The bear against the scimitar

The end of the Cold War was inaugurated as finishing of possible nuclear war between the superpowers as the United States and Soviet Union. But this new era has begun with an escalation of communal ethnical conflicts in some regions in Europe. The Balkans War, the problems in Central Asian States, and the Caucasus region are part of dynamic of change and conflict. On the other hand, the post Cold War has showed us the brutality of war when the mass media has played a key role in transmissions of the wars in whole world. So the Chechnya´s War begins a new era of armament race in the Caucasus. The main strategy of Russia is not to finish the Chechen war as soon as possible, but to justify its presence in the rest of whole region to avoid the extension of the war outside the frontiers and farther the Caucasus range
