Anisotropy effects on pattern selection near dynamical instabilities

Abstract

The effect of uniaxial anisotropy on the pattern selection mechanisms in driven systems is discussed within the framework of amplitude equations for the order parameter-like variable. It is shown, in a case where the dynamics admits a Lyapunov functional, how polygonal patterns are destabilized for constant and time-dependent anisotropy. © 1987.SCOPUS: ar.jinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe
