Abstract

Discussions about the stipulation of limiting values for welding fumes in the air and for the ultrafine particles (UFPs) contained in them as well as recent findings about the properties of particles in the nano size range caused the "Metal and Surface Treatment" expert committee in the employers' liability insurance association to have investigations conducted into the type, quantity and parameters of these particles. These investigations can be used for a subsequent assessment of the possibly pathogenic effect of these particles.
