ON THE USE OF PIEZOELECTRIC STRAIN SENSORS FOR EXPERIMENTAL MODAL ANALYSIS

Abstract

Recently a novel miniaturized piezoelectric transducer has been manufactured. It is an Integrated Electronics Piezo Electric transducer which includes built-in microelectronics. This strain sensor can be suitable for EMA due to the low weight and little dimensions Thus, the paper assesses the effectiveness of such a novel miniaturized sensor for application on experimental modal analysis. Comparisons between the results obtained by the accelerometers and the strain sensors are given, highlighting their pros and cons
