A deformation-invariant image-based fingerprint verification system

Abstract

We show that it is possible to handle the problem of fingerprintdeformation if the region of interest around the reference point is partitioned in smaller sub-images and each sub-image is used for creating a different template. The experiments show that our system outperforms the standard ‘FingerCode’ recognition method and other image-based approaches. Combining the matching score generated by the proposed technique with that obtained from a minutiae-based matcher results in an overall improvement in performance of the fingerprint matching
