As has been the pattern worldwide, donor insemination - and other forms of donor conception - in the UK has been characterised by anonymity between donors and recipients - and between donors and their donor-conceived offspring. In addition, donor-conceived people in the UK seemed rarely to be informed about the means by which their family was built.
