Abstract

Objective structured assessments of technical skills (OSATS) are structured operating room or laboratory assessment of residents\u27 surgical skills. They can be used to evaluate and teach both basic and complex skills to residents. The literature on their use is reviewed. Future use of virtual reality simulators is discussed
