Mediating the media discourse of health with high school students

http://dx.doi.org/10.5007/2175-8042.2011v23n37p115Este trabalho é um recorte de uma dissertação de mestrado concluída no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação Física na UFSC, cujo objetivo foi refletir sobre o discurso midiático a respeito de saúde e atividade física com alunos de Ensino Médio, no âmbito da Educação Física escolar, a partir de uma intervenção pedagógica. O estudo foi realizado com base em elementos metodológicos da pesquisa-ação e contou com a participação de 22 alunos. A intervenção foi realizada a partir de estratégias de mediação escolar, em conjunto com o professor responsável pela turma. Como considerações finais, o estudo aponta que a mídia-educação pode ser associada a qualquer conhecimento da cultura escolar, de forma longitudinal, partindo dos saberes discentes a respeito dos conteúdos veiculados pela mídia e oThis research is the result of a completed dissertation held in the Physical Education Post Graduate Program at UFSC, in which goal was to reflect on the media discourse about health and physical activity among young high school students, in Physical Education, from a education intervention. The study was based on methodological elements of action research and was attended by 22 students. The intervention was carried out on the basis of school mediation strategies, along with the teacher who is responsible for the class. As a conclusion, the study indicates that media education can be associated to any knowledge of school culture, in a longitudinal basis, starting from students’ knowledge about the content transmitted by the media and the effort of a media education cannot be overlooked
