Bayesian Statistics and Applications Genetics

Abstract

Fixation index, denoted FST, has been extensively used to measure the differentiation among sub-populations. Whereas most of analysis using FST were done using the method of moments and the method of maximum likelihood, we used a Bayesian approach and hierarchical models to incorporate uncertainty in sampling distribution of FST. By this approach, we will gain insights in how variance in sampling distribution influences inferences about FST, and subsequent inferences about natural selection and disease association
