Thomas Edison

Abstract

Bretzman photographed Thomas Edison some time in the 1920s. This image shows Edison, seated with his hand cupped to his ear listening to a cabinet style phonograph. No customer card could be found for this image and the date and part of the job number on the negative envelope were missing. It is assumed that Edison was visiting Indianapolis and had his photograph taken while in town. Mr. Bretzman was know for taking portraits of notable people when they visited Indianapolis. During the 1920s Edison was married to his wife Mina and they had homes in Fort Myers Florida and West Orange, New Jersey.This image is a preservation copy made from an unstable original nitrate negative. The image is part of Series III
