On 20 October 1853, Benjamin Harrison married Caroline Lavinia Scott (1 October 1832–25 October 1892). They had three children, Russell Benjamin Harrison (1854-1936), Mary (later Mrs. James R. McKee) (1858-1930), and a daughter who died very shortly after birth in 1861. Mrs. Harrison died of tuberculosis in the White House during her husband’s administration in 1892. She was buried in Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis. The Harrison's daughter served as first lady after her mother's death. Mary Harrison married James Robert McKee, one of the founders of the General Electric company, in November 1884. She is the most recent first lady of the United States not to be the wife of a President
