Eli Lilly at Prairietown Opening

By

Abstract

Museum Director Myron Vourax worked with Folklorist Henry Glassie to create a “living history museum,” a place where staff dress, act and speak as if in the time period they portray. The schoolhouse held classes for visitors to join while activities in the loom house, still house, trading post and pioneer cabin gave visitors a view of life in the 1830s. In 1974 Lilly attended the dedication ceremony for the Conner Prairie Pioneer Village.Use of this image is restricted to projects related to Destination Indiana.
