Margaret Ball Petty Addresses a Group in Ball Stores

Abstract

When Fred died in 1949, Margaret became president and remained in that position for 16 years. By the fourth year of her leadership sales had tripled. She modernized the store and added a cafeteria in the basement. In 1957 she opened a branch of the store in downtown Marion, Indiana. In the early 1960s Ball Stores expanded its Muncie store, adding a home furnishings line and parking space.Use of this image is restricted to projects related to Destination Indiana.
