British commander Henry Hamilton surrendered Fort Sackville to George Rogers Clark on February 25, 1779. This played a decisive part in the U.S. acquiring the Northwest Territory that included Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota
