Abstract

This project covers citizen involvement as well as different aspects within and around this. What does this concept mean? How should you, when you wish to use citizen involvement, sieze your project? When is the process a case of citizen involvement and when is it a case of user involvement? How is citizen involvement articulated? What is positive and what is negative when using citizen involvement? All of these questions will be answered by explaining the following theories: Roman Jakobson’s communication model, Statens Byggeforskningsinstitut’s theory on citizen involvement, Foucault’s power analytics theory as well as an analysis model based on Kasper Møller Hansen’s theories. Following this, an example of the usage of the theories will be shown by analyzing two cases; ‘Superkilen’ and ‘Mulighedernes Park’. Finally, the conclusions from the analysis will be compared and discussed, so lastly the conclusion of this is as follows: citizen involvement can be achieved with fairly little effort, but the aspect of the power relationship is important to achieve a positive process and result
