In this project we want to see how professors at Roskilde University is affected by acceleration society. Our main focus is to find out how their work is influenced by the structures they operate under. We have used qualitative method, to do two interviews with two permanent professors from different research institutes at Roskilde University. We have used Hartmut Rosa's theories of acceleration and alienation, and Anthony Giddens structuration in the analysis of our empirical data. In the analysis we have dealt with the structures the two permanent professors are working under, and how they feel these affect their work. Through the analysis we were shown that both permanent professors feel restricted in their work. Both our informants feel that the administrative work takes a lot of time during the workday and removes the focus from teaching and research. They describe it as difficult having to meet all the demands in their different work areas – teaching, research and administrative work, and stress is a part of the everyday life and something that is being discussed by the professors at the morning coffee. One professor believes it is possible to adjust the working structures so there is better opportunity for immersion in either research or teaching. The other lecturers on the other hand, sees the structures as limiting and feels that she's never going to completely fulfill the work requirements, including by writing a great work. Alienation is one of the project's major focus areas because alienation precisely understood as a result of acceleration society. The project also discusses how the competition of the global world affects lecturers, as well as why they feeling stressed. We will also highlight what the state's competition expectations are for dependent professors and how it will ultimately affect their students. We can completion of the project concluded that the professors do not get fulfilled their professional ambitions that both our informants describe. They say that they either have had to restructure their working life, or feel limited in their wishes and needs of produce. To deal with knowledge as a product and to the get the students quickly through the education system does not seem not to work, because the quality of the work gets bad. The focus on competitiveness weakens the professor’s engagement and let them back with a sense of confusion. According to Rosa it’s demanding for individuals to escape acceleration. Everything is in today's society is measured in fast results
