By M. Rezwan Khan and Edward D. Brown

Abstract

This is a conference paper, it was published by Universititätsverlag der TU Berlin and licensed under the terms of the Creative Commons\ud Attribution 3.0 DE License (CC-BY 3.0 DE): http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/de/A concept paper, along with cost estimations, is presented\ud proposing the development of very small sized solar PV\ud grids, which we have termed nano-grids. These grids allow\ud the incorporation of developmental activities such as irrigation,\ud along with household usage of electricity. It is argued\ud that the developmental activity should be chosen in such a\ud way that it matches with the seasonal variation in insolation\ud and load demand to keep the energy cost to a minimum
