New genetic approaches to study roles of steroids response genes in insect development.

Abstract

This thesis consists of three published articles and one submitted manuscript, where there is contributed the finding that a new coactivator MBF1 interacts in transferred cultured cells with a Drosophilla ortholog of the oncoprotein Jun. The first of the published articles describes the heat-inducible transgenic expression in the Bombyx mori silkmoth. The other two publications explore the use of recombinant Sindbis viral vectors for the protein expression and RNAi gene knock-downs in the silkmoth. A Sindbis-mediated knock-down has been demonstrated for an ecdysone-dependent Broad-Complex transcription factor, whose central role in metamorphosis has thus been confirmed in the first non-drosophillid species.Available from STL Prague, CZ / NTK - National Technical LibrarySIGLECZCzech Republi
