Equivalentes dinamicos de parques eolicos

Abstract

The need to dependency of electric energy production from fossil fuel sources, together with environmental concerns, points to a scenario where the energy produced by renewable sources will become a more significant component of utility generation mix. The necessity that the electric power produced by these sources does not affect the quality of the utility power becomes particularly relevant in the case of wind energy conversion systems. Currently, there is still a lack particularly relevant in the case of wind energy conversion systems. Currently, there is still a lack of knowledge about the interaction between wind turbines and the grid, meaning that an identification of the technical issues associated with power quality are still on open field. The main aim of this work has been the development of computational tools that will assist both wind park and distribution system planners and designers. These tools have been based on models that are able to accurately simulate the behaviour of wind parks under transient situations: .Models that are able to simulate the transient behaviour of the wind energy conversion systems belonging to the park, as well as the transient behaviour of the park with respect to the utility system. .Dynamic equivalents for the wind park are able to correctly predict the relevant dynamics of the park with respect to the utility system. Having detailed models of winds parks implies a computational burden which may render the study unfeasible, this justifying the need of appropriate dynamic equivalents. In order to pursue its development a comparative analysis of the available reduction methods has been carried out using steady state linearized models. This study recommended that singular perturbations techniques is the most promising tool and therefore its behaviour in transit conditions deserves a more in depth investigation. As a consequence, a reduced order model on singular perturbations technique has been established from the detailed non-linear model, creating the conditions for the development of a dynamic equivalent able to describe the transient behaviour of a wind park with respect to utility systemAvailable from Fundacao para a Ciencia e a Tecnologia, Servico de Informacao e Documentacao, Av.
