Desenvolvimento de um sistema de gestao de obras de arte em betao

Abstract

As the number of road infractructures increases, the relative weight of maintenance and repair of existing bridges has been growing as compared to the investment made in building new bridges. As a consequence, management systems for this type of structures have been organized. The object of this thesis is to lay the foundations for the creation of such a system in Portugal. The thesis starts with a summarized description of the management systems abroad, thus trying to gain from their experience some useful notions which can help in the implementation of a national system. After describing the general organization of the system proposed for reinforced and prestressed concrete bridges, each of the main modules is referred: data base, inspection system and decision system. The general organization of the data base and the user's options are described. A proposal of a computer module, already in implementation in a real project, is made and presented in an annex. Three types of inspections should be made, benefiting from long-term planning. A classification system and a number of correlation matrixes are created to help inspection and decision-making. A brief description of the inspection manual and the bridge file is made. Anomaly and repair files are proposed as well as a computer-aided inspection module to be used at the bridge site, illustrated in one of the annexes. The decision system is divided in the subsystems of maintenance / small repair and rehabilitation / replacement. The first one is based on a rating of the anomalies degree done at the site according to the standardized files. The second subsystem is divided in the submodules of inspection strategy and repair work selection. Two proposals are made for the inspection strategy submodule: one based on the anomalies rating and the other in a structural reliability analysis. The repair work selection submodule is based on a long-term economic analysis of each bridge. A computer program was developed to quantify all the costs and benefits related to the bridges during its service life..Available from Fundacao para a Ciencia e a Tecnologia, Servico de Informacao e Documentacao, Av.
