Focusing systems based on cylindrical electrodes for formation of beams at inputs in power- and mass-analizers

Abstract

The focusing systems formed by cylindrical electrode with tranverse and longitudinal sections, which create applied axial-symmetrical and quadrupole fields have been considered in the research. For the first time the distribution of the field in case of the presence of crossed along and transversely formed cylindrical electrodes has been obtained in the analytical way. For the first time the possibility of correction of chromatic aberration in one direction in pure electrostatic axial-symmetrical-quadrupole system has been shown. The presented focusing systems permit to provide a high transmission and high space resolution in photo-electron and ogive-spectrometers, to increase sensitivity of time-of-flight mass-spectrometers without decreasing of their resolution ability, as well as to create systems with corrected chromatic aberration. Two versions of designed linear systems have been used as input devices of a photoelectron spectrometer with sphere deflector developed in the Physical-Technical InstituteAvailable from VNTIC / VNTIC - Scientific & Technical Information Centre of RussiaSIGLERURussian Federatio
