MECHANISM AND KINETICS OF THE IGNITION OF CARBORANE-4 IN A MEDIUM OF STEA

Abstract

Carborane-4 (1,6 - C*002B*004H*006) is considered in the paper aiming at the experimental and theoretical investigation of a mechanism and kinetics of the ignition of carboranes in a medium of steam and wide range of temperatures and pressures at the example of one of the simplest carboranes - carborane-4. As a result the detailed mechanism of oxidation in the "carborane-4 - steam" system has been suggested and substantiated. It has been established, that the isometrization of carborane to active C-BH*002-isomer precedes to the oxidation process. It has been shown, that the oxidation flows according to the molecular mechanism. Problems, important for the design of special systems have been elucidated: what is time of the ignition and complete combustion in "carborane-4 - steam" system, what relation of carborane and water is necessary to kept up for the solid phase formationAvailable from VNTIC / VNTIC - Scientific & Technical Information Centre of RussiaSIGLERURussian Federatio
